Marcelo Bonevardi was born May 13, 1929 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  In 1935, his family moved to Cordoba, Argentina.

Bonevardi studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba beginning in 1948.  Along with his mother, he traveled to Italy in 1951 to Italy for a year painting and visiting galleries and museums.  While traveling, Bonevardi decided to leave architecture and focus solely on painting.

In 1956 he was named Adjunct professor at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba.  However, three years later he moved with his family to New York.  However, it wasn't until 1980 that he became a US citizen.  In New York City, Bonevardi spent most of his career absorbing practices of avant-guard and was influenced by abstraction and primitiivism.  He is best known for his shaped canvases, which combine elements of painting and sculpture, reflecting his early training and interest in architec   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 3485 characters.]  Artist bio
